THE AERC 2020–2025 STRATEGIC PLAN

Vision

Sustained development in sub-Saharan Africa grounded in
sound economic management and an informed society.

Mission

To strengthen local capacity for conducting independent, rigorous inquiry into problems
pertinent to the management of African economies, through a synergetic programme
combining research with postgraduate training in economics and supported by an
interactive communications and policy outreach.

Objectives

» Enhance the capacity of locally based researchers to conduct policy-relevant
economic inquiry;
» Promote the retention of such capacity; and

» Encourage its application in the policy context.
