The launch of AERC goes back to the late 1980s, when a group of Africanists and African scholars recognized the disconnect between economic policy making and economic research in Africa.
The Training Programme is collaborative in nature, bringing together departments/schools in local public universities across sub-Saharan Africa offering masters and doctoral level studies in Economics and Agricultural Economics.
“An economic policy which does not consider the well-being of all will not serve the purposes of peace and the growth of well-being among the people of all nations.”
— Eleanor Roosevelt
Translating evidence into policy and practice
“Knowledge has become the key economic resource and the dominant and perhaps even the only source of competitive advantage.”
— Peter F. Drucker
