We are deeply saddened by the passing of Prof. Amadou Boly on 30 May 2025 while on mission in Durban, South Africa. Prof. Boly was a long-standing and dedicated member of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) network, serving as a valued Resource Person in Group E for over four years. His contributions to AERC’s research and training programmes were marked by intellectual rigor, mentorship, and a deep commitment to building Africa’s capacity for evidence-based policymaking.

Beyond his formal role as Chief Economist for the Central Africa Region at the African Development Bank, Prof. Boly was an engaged and inspiring mentor within the AERC community. He actively supported young scholars, encouraging them to link research to real-world policy challenges and to lead with purpose and integrity.

Prof. Boly’s passing is a profound loss to the AERC family. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Madame Boly Aminata, and their daughters, Samira Sally Fatimata and Kenza Hasmaand.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him within the AERC network and beyond.
