The ADB is a multilateral development bank whose shareholders include 53 African
countries and 24 non-African countries from the Americas, Asia, and Europe. It
was established in 1964, with its headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire,
and officially began operations in 1967.

African Economic Outlook
The African Economic Outlook aims to provide policy makers, private sector
operators, and researchers with an objective analysis of economic and social
developments on the African continents.The report concists of three main parts:
an assessement of the position of African in the world economy, country studies
on selected African countries and finally, a statistical annex.The 2003/2004
African Economic Outlook (AEO) contains a special focus on “Energy Supply
and Poverty”, in addition to its analysis of key macroeconomic and structural
variables and short-term projections. The publication is based on data for the
22 most significant African economies and serves as a reference for national
policy makers, donors, and the private sector.
